   short illness.

   the daughter of John and Sophia LuBrant. She was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. At one time she worked at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory as a secretary. She was a member of the Mohawk Golf Club for over 40 years where she chaired and co-chaired many special events at the club. Irene had a passion for golf and classical music. She was a longtime volunteer with the American Heart Association, was honored for her volunteerism and one time was the chair of the Heart Ball. Irene was also honored by the mayor of the village of Lake George with the 2011 Beautification Award. She had been a lifelong communicant of the Church of St. Adalbert.
   Irene is survived by her husband of 56 years, John “Jack” Merry. She is also survived by three children, Carol Ann (Robert) Butera of Somerset, NJ, Lynn M. (Gregory) Laniewski of Clifton Park and Kevin L. (Lynn) Merry of Niskayuna; nephew, John (Kathie) LuBrant of Niskayuna; six grandchildren, Erica (Alek) Chartrand, Colleen and Michelle Merry, Jennifer and Andrew Bartlett and Samantha LuBrant; extended family members, David Clark and Barbara (Thomas) Demkowski; and longtime friend from kindergarten, Elaine Palmer.
   She was predeceased by her brother, John LuBrant.
   Funeral service Thursday morning, 8:15 from the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady and 9 a.m. at the Church of Saint Adalbert where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
   Calling hours Wednesday afternoon, 4 to 7 in the evening at the funeral home.
   Interment Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
