Shirley M. Weisgerber
Scotia — Shirley M. (nee: Martin) Weisgerber, 86, of Scotia, passed away
   on Sunday, July
   1, 2012 at Ellis
   Residential and
   Rehabilitation
   Center, Schenectady.
   Born on December 17, 1925
   in Ballston, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Jessie W. (nee: Myers ) Martin. Shirley graduated from the Vocational High School of Schenectady Class of 1942 and went on to Spencer Business School. She was a m e m b e r o f F i r s t B a p t i s t Church of Scotia for many years. Shirley began her employment with General Electric Co. as a secretary and advanced her duties to include arranging international visits. Her organizational skills and dedication as a parent made Shirley an excellent pioneer to develop the PTA at Glendaal Elementary in 1953. In preparation, she spent a week at Cornell University with pay, at the request of the principal and agreement of her employer. She was also a member of the GE Women’s Club, Women’s Auxiliary of Shriners and Women’s Auxiliary VFW Post 1895.
   Shirley enjoyed traveling and had a passion for her camp on Lake George as well as spending winters in the Florida Keys.
   Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Raymond C. Weisgerber in 1979; as well as her longtime companion, Richard Parkis in 2007. Also predeceased by her brothers, Donald and John Martin, and her sisters, Evelyn Wiltsie and Dorothy Pierson.
   Shirley is survived by her son, Alan (Helen) Weisgerber; two granddaughters, Ashley and Erica; sister-in-law, Mary-Lou Martin; and several nieces and nephews.

   Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at The White Funeral Home, 264 N. Ballston Ave., Scotia, followed by interment in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
   Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to First Baptist Church of Scotia or Ellis Residential and Rehabilitation Center.
